UFOs in Mississippi!

The lead story in the Number 4 issue of the Gold Key comic book series UFO Flying Saucers was “The Mississippi Mystery.” Colored panels relate the tale of an unidentified flying object and alien abduction in Pascagoula, Mississippi that made national news in 1973. At the time, the mystery author Carolyn Haines was a photojournalist with the Hattiesburg American newspaper, and the photographic print on display from her collection captures local reaction to the reporting frenzy. A decade later, one of the two fishermen at the center of the event, co-wrote UFO Contact at Pascagoula. In 2019, the community erected an historical marker at the site of the alleged abduction.
