Abstract

Cheryl Sproles is a lesbian woman who grew up in Pineville, LA and Brookhaven, MS. She is one of six children and lived with her grandparents for much of her childhood. Cheryl is married to Leslie Criss, also interviewed for this project. Cheryl went to Mississippi College, studied theatre, and moved to New York City after college. There, she discovered that she was a lesbian and came home after that revelation. She became a massage therapist in Jackson before eventually moving to Tupelo to be with Leslie. She had a stroke and has since been retired.
