Sounds of the South was a series of short audio segments made for Mississippi Public Broadcasting by the University of Mississippi’s Media and Documentary Projects Center. In each segment, Charles Reagan Wilson of UM’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture and general editor of The New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture (U of North Carolina P, 2008; ISBN 9780807832394) read excerpts from Volume 12 devoted to Southern Music. The Music volume was edited by Bill Malone.
