Description

Engel writes from the United States Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Illinois, to Creekmore through the Fleet Post Office in San Francisco, California. He discusses World War II and their friend and actor Maurice Evans. He reviews various plays and musicals that he saw in New York over Christmas: One Touch of Venus, Othello, Carmen Jones, and Cherry Orchard. He describes a private performance that Martha Graham put on for Engel. He names various people he worked with recently: Fritz Kreisler, Nathan Milstein, Paul Draper, Larry Adler, Percy Grainger, and Yehudi Menuhin. Engel saw Vladimir Horowitz recently and read Eudora Welty's most recent book. Includes envelope.
