Description

Hubert writes from New York City to his mother in Jackson, Mississippi regarding personal and professional matters, including: a recent visit from Major and their attendance at the opera; Major's attending a performance of "Requiem for a Nun" starring Ruth Ford, a former classmate at the University of Mississippi; a recent party at Babette Deutsch for author Isak Dinesen, who was unable to attend; several poets were present at the event, including: Leonie Adams, Louise Bogan, Isabel Bolton, Margaret Marshall; update about recent dinner with John and Perdita; attendance with Bill Smith at the African Ballet; Hubert's agreement to be on the radio for a poetry program episode; meeting with Professor Walter Starkie about his Spanish book translation.
