Abstract

Written by Afton Thomas This week the Center for the Study of Southern Culture was a proud partner in the Black Power at Ole Miss events that occurred Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the film "Black Power at Ole Miss," produced and edited by Southern Studies M.A. student Katherine Aberle-Flores premiered along with a panel discussion with five of the Ole Miss Eight and John Brittain, their attorney from 1970. The panel discussion was led by Ralph Eubanks, visiting professor of Southern Studies, English, and Honors, who also published a New Yorker article about the unhealed wounds of the mass arrests.
