The Association of Southern Research Libraries (ASERL) and the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) partnered to create DEEPLY ROOTED: a shared digital collection of primary source research materials describing economic, technological, and social factors significant to the development of agricultural practices, crops, technology, and agrarian life in the southeastern United States. The University of Mississippi's Department of Archives and Special Collections selected materials for inclusion in this aggregated project from a number of its relevant collections:
- Audubon Mississippi / Strawberry Plains Finley Collection
- C.E. Colbert Collection of Historical Manuscripts
- Daniel Holland Ledger
- King and Anderson Plantation Collection
- Landry-Hume Collection
- Locust Grove Plantation Slave Ledger
- Mitchell Family Marshall County Collection
- Prospect Hill Plantation Collection
- Mrs. A.B. Robinson Ledger
- Sunflower & Eastern Railway Company Ledgers
Some of the images and language that appear in this digital collection depict prejudices that are not condoned by the University of Mississippi. This content is being presented as historical documents to aid in the understanding of both American history and the history of the University of Mississippi. The University Creed speaks to our current deeply held values, and the availability of this content should not be taken as an endorsement of previous attitudes or behavior.
