Description
Collection consists of legal documents, correspondence, speeches, pamphlets, ephemera, currency, and miscellaneous documents related to the Featherston family, primarily Confederate Brigadier General Winfield Scott Featherston. Featherston represented Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives between 1847 and 1850. During the Civil War, he rose to the rank of brigadier general. After the conflict, Featherston remained active in politics serving in the Mississippi legislature and the 1890 state constitutional convention.
