Diary, letters and passes from William Decatur Howell, private Company I, 3rd. Mississippi Cavalry. Also includes typescripts of the diary and letters from Maud Morrow Brown entitled : "William Decatur Howell 1846-1864: A Soldier's Journal Letters". Nearly all items written between William Decatur Howell and his mother, Nancy Keyes Merriam Howell.
