In 2009, Assistant Professor Brooke White took a group of students to Tanzania as part of UM's Academic Traveler program. From May 31 through June 8, they traveled with guides through national parks, leading them to areas optimal for seeing buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, lions, porcupines, leopards, elephants and a wide array of birds. In addition to the wildlife, travelers were able to photograph the stunning African landscape ranging from the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera to the grasslands of the Serengeti, home to the largest and longest overland migration in the world.
