The Mrs. Jewel Harwood Scrapbook Collection was gifted to the Archives & Special Collections at the University of Mississippi Libraries in August 1989. A large portion of the photographs were taken at photography studios, mostly located across the South during the 19th century. Brigham, Craver and Moyston studio photographers are listed in the 1876-1877 Tennessee State Gazetteer & Business Directory. The majority of the subjects in the photographs are African American and unidentified. All of the photos are undated.
