Abstract
I owe a great deal ofthanks to the people who helped with my thesis. First, my advisor Dr. John Sonnett helped shape and edit my thesis more than anyone else. My third-reader Dr. Ann Fisher-Wirth and my second-reader Dr. Kees Gispen should also be given credit for the completion ofmy thesis. Dr. Fisher-Wirth has been an inspiration to me since my first year at Ole Miss. She planted the seeds of environmentalism in my head and also fostered the exchange program with the University ofFribourg. Completing the thesis component for the Honors College and the Croft Institute has been an amazing learning experience. I appreciate all ofthe professors who pushed me to rise to a standard of excellence during my academic career. Also, my family has always been a constant source ofsupport and advice about grammar and writing. Without all ofthose listed above and the others with whom I have come into contact throughout my four years at Ole Miss, I would not have been able to graduate much less complete a senior thesis. Thanks to all!
