Abstract
This thesis investigates the principles, elements, methodologies, and emerging trends of website design. It has a focus on user experience and design elements such as color, shape, and fonts. As websites have evolved from being a place to share information to a place where goods are bought and sold, design directly impacts the satisfaction of the consumer using the website. This study explores the connection between graphic design and user experience elements and satisfaction of consumers.
The research uses qualitative research to discover the impact of graphic design elements of a website including color scheme, button shapes, and font styles on user experiences and consumer perceptions. Literature was examined and analyzed in order to support or deny the research questions.
In the research, key findings highlight the need for color within a website, the importance of navigability within a layout of a website, the trust that comes with website design, and user experience playing an important role in all of the designs.
This study offers a guide for designers, developers, and others to create well designed and functioning websites that will generate traffic across a company’s website.
