Abstract
In my practicum class during my junior year at the University of Mississippi, Dr. Dickinson assigned eight case studies over the course of our Accountancy 420 course. These case studies involved several different topics, many regarding financial reporting. This included a wide range of topics such as the Corporate Transparency Act, ESG regulations, asset theory, and most importantly the new Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) regulations. Throughout the year guest speakers would come to class and discuss working in the accounting industry, as well as answer any questions that we might have. During this time, we learned how to analyze financial statements and make judgements from our analysis. We spent half of the year, starting in the spring semester, researching how Post Holdings could be affected by MAHA regulations. At the end of the spring semester, we presented work from our MAHA case studies to professionals over a call. We got to hear feedback from them and answer questions regarding our work that we had done. Overall, this class and the casework provided me with a better understanding of different accounting topics and policy changes that could affect me and the accounting industry.
