Abstract

This thesis consists of eight case studies and assignments completed over two semesters in Accountancy 420 under the guidance of Dr, Dickinson. These assignments were completed both collectively as part of a group and individually. These assignments and case studies explored a wide variety of topics related to accounting both directly, including research into the financial statements of multiple companies and audit methods, to more indirect effects such as examining the lives of political figures and economists. These assignments involved in-depth research into various topics in order to better understand how these topics may connect in real-world accounting and business scenarios. The spring semester of Accountancy 420 involved specific research into companies in the “snack food” market. This thesis contains the research done into Mondelez International. Our group performed professional research in order to understand the company’s financial position and prepare suggestions for how the company may best navigate potential changes in health policy by the Trump Administration. These suggestions included both ideas that Mondelez could peruse, along with strategies that auditors of Mondelez could use to ensure their audit plan adapts to changes that the company may pursue.
