Abstract
This thesis consists of six separate accounting cases including a three part case that analyzes the effects of the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement on the company Conagra Brands. These cases were assigned by Dr. Dickinson during the 2024-2025 school year. During the fall semester, we were given four cases referencing different accounting related trends and were instructed to research these topics extensively. We were placed in groups where we could conduct research and consult amongst each other in order to expand our understanding of each topic provided. In between cases, we were lucky enough to hear from multiple accounting professionals from many different firms who gave us advice regarding the profession and our future careers. The combination of research, critical thinking, and listening to established professionals helped each of us grow as accountants during this first semester. The spring semester consisted of an Economist case followed by the three part case stated above. Both cases were beneficial but the three part case where we researched MAHA legislation and the operations of Conagra Brands was by far the most rewarding. Throughout the semester, we took a deep dive into the operations of Conagra Brands and did a multitude of research regarding the effects the MAHA legislation may have on the company. We presented this project to Dr. Dickinson along with multiple accounting professionals, and received feedback on where to improve. Overall, this full year of research and communication amongst team members helped me grow both as an individual and as an accountant.
