Abstract: Long-term opioid therapy (LTOT) has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. The effects of opioid dosage and formulation on cardiovascular events in older adults with chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP) taking LTOT remains unclear. A better understanding of these associations could inform safer prescribing practices and reduce cardiovascular risks in patients on LTOT.
