Abstract: Long-term opioid therapy (LTOT) is commonly used for managing chronic pain, especially in older adults. However, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Beers Criteria caution against the use of LTOT in older adults due to its potential to exacerbate functional and cognitive decline, as well as its association with increased risks of hospitalizations and death. These older adults may require home healthcare (HH) services to support cognitive recovery and functional independence. However, limited research has explored the predictors of HH admission among older adults on LTOT.
