Abstract
Veteran journalist Peter J. Boyer is the featured guest in a discussion about the turbulent relationship between President Trump and the news media at the Overby Center for Southern Journalism and Politics. During his long career Boyer worked for many prominent news organizations, including The New Yorker, PBS’s Dateline, Newsweek and Fox News. This semester he is co-teaching a course on the conflict between Trump and the press with Curtis Wilkie at the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at Ole Miss. Wilkie, an Overby Fellow who covered national politics for more than 25 years for The Boston Globe, will join him in the conversation for the Overby Center’s second program of the fall. Boyer is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and attended Ole Miss before obtaining a degree at UCLA. He first won distinction for his reporting on Dateline, where he won an Emmy as well as a George Foster Peabody award.
