Abstract
Jeffrey Grimes recounts his life growing up in East Memphis, Tennessee, and living in Oxford, Mississippi. He fondly remembers a fun childhood with lots of kids and close ties with his family, especially his mom and sister. Jeffrey started thinking that he was gay in his early adolescence, and talks about discovering his sexuality under the fear of being expelled from his Christian school. He talks about finding an accepting community in Oxford, subsequently coming out, and maintaining strong ties with his parents, siblings, and his sister’s son.
