Abstract
Filmed in October of 2018, Tupelo Pride documents the first LGBTQ Pride parade in Tupelo, Mississippi. It features interviews with four of the organizers and speakers: Eric Godiva White, Melanie Deas, Amanda Daniels, and Benson Hill. The film shows the “Pride walk” through downtown Tupelo and speakers and drag performances at Fair Park. The interviewees discuss how the idea came about and the plans for the event.
This film was made as a project for an independent study toward the M.F.A. in Documentary Expression.
