Abstract

Currently serving as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Diversity at the University of Mississippi, Shawnboda Mead assisted with the founding of the Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement (CICCE) in 2014. As the inaugural director of CICCE, she oversaw LGBTQ+ student programming and other initiatives to foster a safe and inclusive campus community for all students. In this interview, Mead discusses her journey serving as an advocate for marginalized students, and how LGBTQ+ student programming has positively impacted the overall campus culture.
