In Winter 1987, the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, working along with Baylor University and some colleagues throughout the South, published the first issue of Rejoice! The Gospel Music Magazine (ISSN 1044-1034).
Highlighting a variety of gospel acts, from crossover contemporary Christian music artists, Southern gospel groups, urban gospel stars, and traditional quartets, Rejoice! featured up-and-coming artists alongside established legends in a magazine that was part scholarly, academic journal and part trade publication.
It ceased publication in 1994, after 5 volumes.
