Abstract
The SEC Spanish Consortium was recently formed as a mechanism to bring together scholars and key stakeholders at SEC Schools who are currently working on themes related to Spanish and Latinx communities in the U.S. Southeast. The aims of this collaborative include: (a) identification of external funding that links researchers and students across SEC Schools; (b) raising public awareness of key issues on Spanish and Latinxs in the U.S. Southeast through publications, newsletters and public presentations; (c) training and mentoring of students interested in this area of study, including the creation of a network of specialists that can serve on theses and dissertations across the SEC Schools; and (d) supporting educational opportunities for Latinx and Spanish-speaking students at SEC Schools.
