Description
L.Q.C. Lamar was a congressman and senator from Mississippi, Secretary of the Interior, and associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. His home in Oxford, Miss. was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975. By 2000, the structure was so badly deteriorated that it was almost unsalvageable. After obtaining the property rights, the city of Oxford, with federal grant funding of over $1.5 million for extensive renovations, was able to restore the home to its prior glory by 2008. Narrated by Johnny McPhail.
