Abstract

In celebration of Mississippi writer Elizabeth Spencer’s one hundredth birthday, the Center for the Study of Southern Culture partnered with the University of Mississippi Department of Music for this SouthTalk featuring moderator Nancy Maria Balach, Tony award-winning composer Adam Guettel, UM alumna Mary Donnelly Haskell, artist in residence Blake McIver Ewing, and Center director Kathryn McKee. The panelists converse about Elizabeth Spencer’s novella “The Light In The Piazza,” which was made into a musical.
