Description

In the era of segregation prior to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Black Americans endured discriminatory hazards while traveling around the country. To circumnavigate these often dangerous situations, they used various travel guides to locate where they could purchase gas, buy a meal, sleep for the night, or enjoy some entertainment. The most well-known of these guides is The Negro Motorist Green Book, or more commonly known as the Green Book.
