Abstract

UM landscape crew helps set into place "The Mentor," an anonymously-donated sculptural centerpiece for the new campus rose garden, established by the Ole Miss Women's Council's scholarship program. The mentoring of scholarship recipients is a key ingredient within the program, which seeks to develop leaders as people who will care about the future. Since its establishment in 2000, the council has raised more than $2 million for scholarships endowed in the names of women important to the donors. Each woman also will be honored by a rose bush planted in the UM garden adjacent to the new Gertrude Ford Center for the Performing Arts on University Avenue. Dedication of the garden is set for 3 p.m. Friday, March 28. The public is invited.
