Abstract
OXFORD, Miss. - It's as true now as ever that you can't eat magnolias - or at least you probably shouldn't. "You Can't Eat Magnolias" is the title of the 1972 manifesto written by a group of progressive Southerners with a vision for the region that included overcoming racism, poverty and ignorance.
