Abstract
Several of the University of Mississippi's Harry S. Truman Scholars gathered Friday, Nov. 19, on the Oxford campus for presentation of the university's Truman Foundation Honor Institution Award. The group included (from left) Julie Grimes Waldorf of New York City, a native of Fulton and 1992 graduate; John Joseph of Tuscaloosa, Ala., a native of Decatur, Ala., and 2000 graduate in political science; Chancellor Robert Khayat; Thomas Joel Fyke of Jackson, a senior in international studies; Benjamin M. Logan of Sherman, a Tupelo native who earned a bachelor's in accountancy in 1985; Russell M. Dallen Jr. of Caracas, Venezuela, a Gulfport native who earned a bachelor's in political science in 1985; Keyana Mitchell of Atlanta, a native of Southaven and 2002 graduate in biological science; and Wynn M. Shuford of Birmingham, Ala., a native of Franklin, Tenn., who earned a bachelor's in economics in 1990. The award recognizes UM's success in producing Truman Scholars, who are selected based primarily on their record of and commitment to public service.
