Abstract

UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- Dr. Marc Showalter, director of counseling at The University of Mississippi, knows that students sometimes have to experience being uncomfortable to develop skills crucial to a successful career both during college and afterward. That's why he advises parents to resist the urge to solve problems for their children just beginning their college careers. Don't leave them stranded, but instead point them in the right direction.
