Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- The kakapos of New Zealand may be the unluckiest birds in the world. For starters, they can't fly. They're stuck on a group of remote, albeit gorgeous, islands with too little food. Only 54 of them remain in existence. And, as for mating and reproduction, well, let's just say the thrill is gone from their love lives.
