Abstract

UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- When mapping out your college future, why not think globally? For many high school graduates soon to be away from home for the first time, the cultural shock and academic challenges of life at a major American college or university can be daunting enough, without the added adjustments of studying abroad. Even among upper classmen, the opportunity to spend a semester or year of college in another country often is lost to mistaken and outdated notions about costs, language barriers and other restrictions.
