Abstract

UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- Hidden in the rocks and crevices deep below the ocean's surface are tiny animals that may hold the keys to treating such dreaded human diseases as malaria, tuberculosis, HIV and even some types of cancer. If so, University of Mississippi graduate Deron Edward Burkepile of Oxford could be the first to know, thanks to a prestigious graduate studies fellowship he won from Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
