Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- Football season ticket sales have hit an all-time high and "Deuce for Heisman" bumper stickers are everywhere. But Coach David Cutcliffe's Rebels are not the only group setting records and generating such enthusiasm on the Oxford campus. The University of Mississippi's Office of Research recently celebrated the end of the fiscal year with a new record. For the fiscal year (which ended June 30), external funding for research, education and service projects grew by more than 29 percent, soaring to more than $44.1 million. That figure easily topped last year's record-setting $34.1 million and more than doubled the FY 97-98 total of almost $20.5 million.
