Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- Put 15 or 20 children into one room, and things are sure to get pretty noisy. But University of Mississippi (UM) researchers are hoping to boost academic performance in elementary school classrooms by turning the volume up a notch. The project, a joint study by audiologists and speech-language pathologists in the UM Center for Speech and Hearing Research, is aimed at helping pupils hear the teacher clearly, improving concentration and learning.
