Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. -- America's insatiable appetite for energy has led oil and gas producers into increasingly deeper waters in the Gulf of Mexico, where they may encounter hurricanes, sharks and other menacing creatures. But perhaps the biggest threat to their efforts looks like nothing more than blue ice.
