Abstract

UNIVERSITY, Miss. – Weight gain -- that's one year-end holiday tradition most of us could live without. Although it's been widely reported that the average American gains five or more pounds during the holiday season, a recent National Institutes of Health study found that those reports are widely exaggerated. So, why all the hoopla? According to Sharon Boon, fitness coordinator at The University of Mississippi (UM), the trouble isn't necessarily the number of pounds put on but the trouble with losing them.
