Abstract
UNIVERSITY, Miss. - Fourteen-year-old Veronice Simmons, a plucky Sunflower County 10th-grader, knows her place. It's on a stage. Simmons and 55 other participants in the Sunflower County Freedom Project perform "Five Feet Four Inches Forward," a free production based on the life of black suffragist and rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday in Meek Hall Auditorium on the University of Mississippi's Oxford campus.
