This session will delve into the fascinating realm of non-verbal communication and its profound impact on personal and professional success. Drawing from renowned social psychologist and researcher Amy Cuddy's groundbreaking research, we will discuss the transformative power of confident body language and its potential to shape our perceptions of ourselves and others. Andrea Jekabsons, chief human resources officer for the University of Mississippi, will lead an exploration into the question: Can you fake it until you become it? Participants will gain valuable insights into the science behind short-term power posing exercises and their potential impact on personal and professional success. We will also discuss practical strategies for incorporating these exercises into daily routines, empowering to enhance presence and navigating complexities of academia with newfound assurance.

Andrea has served as chief human resources office for the University of Mississippi since March 2020. She is passionate about employee engagement, connection and commitment as these impact an organization s success as well as student recruitment and retention. Prior to joining Ole Miss in 2006, Andrea worked in a variety of industries, including healthcare, wireless and technology. She is a worksite wellness advocate and recreation enthusiast that enjoys long walks with her dog, exercise programs, camping and traveling. A native to California and a Humboldt State University graduate, Andrea relocated to Oxford in 2005 with her husband who is a faculty member and their two children.
