Abstract
It can be difficult to motivate students to learn under normal circumstances—and even more difficult when outsourcing assignments to AI is easy, free, and virtually undetectable. In this course design workshop, we’ll investigate how the framework of self-determination theory can help us create more motivational learning environments. We’ll focus in particular on how to promote autonomy, competence, and relatedness in the classroom and how we might use these principles to craft course policies and assignments that discourage inappropriate use of AI. This event is open to the University of Mississippi community only.
