Abstract

Layers of Meaning is a profile documentary short features artist Brooke P. Alexander. Brooke is a painter and teacher, and much of her work has a strong narrative thread. She is also an inveterate reader, and books provide inspiration to both the content and structure of her paintings. Often, her work is influenced by her deep fascination with literature. In this film, I highlight the connections between Alexander’s considerable talent to tell stories through her paintings.

Annemarie Anderson is an MFA student in documentary expression. She is also the Southern Foodways Alliance’s oral historian.
