Abstract
We consider a wireless sensor network where several sensors receive observations to detect the presence or absence of a deterministic signal in Gaussian noise. In this context, we consider two problems. In the first problem, subject to power constraint across all sensors, we focus on optimizing individual sensor transmit power to enhance the probability of correct decision performance. In the second problem, we concentrate on achieving energy savings by an implementation of sequential transmission involving ordered transmission process from the sensors to a fusion center (FC). Both problems have a focus on energy savings, with ordered transmission requiring timing and more coordination among sensors.
