Abstract
Acts of God, a collection of stories, explores encounters with severe weather, illness, death, and other circumstances beyond our control. These fifteen stories investigate the role of fear and faith in the lives of people, young and old. An old woman builds a bomb shelter, a man helps carry a casket to a school basement during a tornado, a fraternity cook moves into the women’s restroom during a snowstorm. Acts of God reflects the powerlessness of humanity and the hopefulness of recognizing it.
