Description
Recordings of individuals in Mississippi reading newspaper stories over the phone to U.S. Senator James O. Eastland's Washington, DC staff; occasionally the staff inserts comments about the stories. Begins with a Memphis Commercial Appeal story about a dispute between Gil Carmichael and Republican fundraiser Billy Mounger regarding Carmichael's potential challenge of Eastland in the 1978 campaign. Second story discusses Mississippi Governor Cliff Finch's political appointments.
