Abstract

In this talk I will discuss a class of semigroup rings, called intersection algebras, that have interesting algebraic and combinatorial properties. These algebras occur naturally in relation to powers of ideals in a commutative ring. Connections to the theory of linear Diophantine equations will be explored. This is joint work with Sara Malec and, independently, John Hull.
