Interview conducted by author Jere Nash with former Mississippi Speaker of the House in the process of writing Mississippi Politics: The Struggle for Power, 1976-2006 (Part 1 of 2). Topics covered include battle over House rules in 1987 on electing committee chairs and term limits for the Speaker; different coalitions in the House; Ray Mabus; Ed Perry's campaign for the Speaker; legislative reapportionment in 1991-92; Kirk Fordice; Ronnie Musgrove as lieutenant governor and governor; 1992 issue of funds for education; Ford's congressional campaign race in 1994; John Bell Williams; tort reform; Haley Barbour; Mike Mills; voter ID issue; and abortion.
