Interview conducted by author Jere Nash with Greenville, Mississippi attorney and state senator Johnnie Walls in the process of writing Mississippi Politics: The Struggle for Power, 1976-2006. Topics covered include Walls's family and background; his law practice in Greenville; reapportionment in 1981-82; Robert Clark; Mike Espy's first campaign for Congress; Mississippi Democratic Party and black candidates; Walls considering a race for the U.S. Senate in 1984; William Winter; Jesse Jackson; Walls's appointment to the College Board; Ayers case on higher education funding in Mississippi; reapportionment in 1991-92; and Walls's races for the Mississippi legislature.
