Abstract: Rural research is critical for understanding the unique challenges and opportunities faced by rural communities across America. These communities often experience distinct socioeconomic dynamics, cultural practices, and environmental conditions that are unique to rural spaces and places. By focusing on rural research, the Rural Research Meeting provides an academic environment to foster Rural Education and Rural Studies through a scholarly and academic exchange amongst those interested in advancing research in the field.

This three-day meeting will include workshops dedicated to specific topics in rural research. The Rural Research Meeting provides an academic environment to foster Rural Research and Rural Studies through a scholarly and academic exchange amongst those interested in advancing research in the field.

Through this meeting, we:

  • Advance knowledge and understanding of Rural researchl.
  • Focus on rural societies and culture, and economies.
  • Inform policymakers by suggesting possible policy options and making recommendations for addressing national, regional, and global challenges.
  • Encourage the participation of scholars, including graduate students, to present their research and benefit from the experience of other scholars in their field.
  • Connect scholars and experts, favoring cooperation, developing joint projects, and expanding and reinforcing networks.
  • Publish high-quality academic research papers that contribute to the field of Rural studies jointly in edited volumes or special issues of academic journals or individually in academic journals or as working papers.
