Abstract

In this interview, Madeline Burdine discusses growing up in Houston, Mississippi, which is a very small town. She describes a little about the small town’s traditional view of life and her mobility for educational purposes. The places that she mentions for mobility are Houlka, Houston, Oxford, and Tupelo. She discusses her experience with the deep conservatism of the Christian church. She expresses some painful moments that she endures when she faces questions about her new married life, wife, and children. Burdine describes herself as a new member of the LGBTQ community who has been welcomed with open arms.
